Naked Cowboy is one of the most popular and richest Street Artist who was born on December 23, 1970 in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. Robert John Burck, better known as the Naked Cowboy (born December 23, 1970), is an American actor and singer, songwriter, writer, and street performer who sings in New York City’s Times Square. To give the illusion of nudity, he wears cowboy boots and a hat. He also wears white shorts and a guitar.
Mars, Incorporated created an animation showing the Blue M&M’s Blue M&M’s characters playing a guitar, while wearing a cowboy hat, boots, and underpants. The animation hangs outside M&Ms store in Times Square. Burck, who holds trademarks for the Naked Cowboy name, likeness and image, filed a trademark infringement suit against Mars Incorporated, February 15, 2008.
On July 20, 2009, it was announced that Burck would challenge Mayor Michael Bloomberg in the 2009 election for Mayor of New York City. At his announcement, Burck stated:

He made an appearance on January 25, 2009, where he performed at a Leinster Rugby game in Donnybrook, Dublin, Ireland, singing his theme song “I’m the Naked Cowboy” before 18,000 spectators. In May 2014, Burck switched from his usual briefs to boxer briefs, after being sponsored by Fruit of the Loom.
Burck claimed that the ads violate his trademark by using his persona, likeness, and image for commercial purposes, without his written permission, and falsely suggesting that M&M’s candy is his endorsement. In a federal court in Manhattan, the Cowboy filed a lawsuit requesting an injunction to stop Mars from using Naked Cowboy’s image to promote M&M’s products. The injunction could also include punitive damages up to $100 million and attorney’s fees. The court issued a decision on June 23rd 2008 that dismissed part of the suit, citing New York law. However, it rejected the defendants’ motion to dismiss trademark claims. The terms of the settlement reached by Burck and Mars Incorporated in November 2008 were not disclosed.
